Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate raided a three-storey luxury house in Rajarhat late Friday night, near Kolkata, uncovering a sophisticated sextortion operation. The house, reportedly owned by a Mahuri associated with the court, was found to be the hub of a criminal gang targeting young individuals.
The police, acting on intelligence gathered from undisclosed sources, descended on the premises equipped with high-ranking officials. They discovered a meticulously organized setup: the ground floor featured specially lit seating arrangements, while the second floor housed accommodations. It was on these floors that the illegal business thrived, manipulating victims through illicit means.
The modus operandi involved luring victims into video calls from unknown numbers, capturing them in compromising positions. Once trapped, victims were swiftly threatened with exposure unless they paid hefty sums of money. Blackmail ensued, with threats of spreading sensitive images across social media platforms.
Notably, two women were apprehended in connection with the operation. Their identities and specific roles in the criminal enterprise are currently under investigation. The Bidhannagar police have initiated a thorough search of the entire premises, aiming to gather more evidence that could unravel the full extent of the sextortion racket.
